Interactive multi-disease map
The French epidemic intelligence team has developed an interactive multi-disease visualization tool provides a dynamic visualization of outbreaks for several monitored diseases:
- Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI)
- African swine fever (ASF)
- Lumpy skin disease (LSD)
- West Nile fever (WN)
- Bluetongue (BT)
- Bovine tuberculosis
- Aethina tumida
The sources of information used are the ADNS (Animal Disease Notification System) database of the European Commission and the FAO’s EMPRES-i database.
As the tool is interactive, the user can modify search settings (in « Settings) which include:
- the disease
- the time period (dates)
- the type of animal (e.g. domestic, wild, captive)
- the serotype
This tool is available both in French and English.
For each disease, a map and a time series represent the spatial and temporal evolution of the outbreaks. The fact that the map is interactive allows the user to:
- zoom in and out
- modify the map background (e.g. satellite image, road network, etc.)
- modify the size of the outbreak circles
The time series illustrates the number of outbreaks for each serotype and by week, month or year. A time-lapse video of outbreaks is available using the « play video » button.
